At about 2:20 PM, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, officers assigned to the Drug Control Units of Districts, A-1 (Downtown), D-4 (South End), and E-5 (Roslindale/West Roxbury) arrested Erick Matos, 24, of Boston, on firearm and drug charges.
Officers were conducting a drug investigation in the area of 75 Boylston Street to address community complaints of illegal drug activity and quality of life issues. Officers observed two males conduct what they believed was a street level drug transaction. Officers were able to stop one of the suspects and summoned him to court for Possession of Class B.
Officers continued their investigation, and observed the second suspect on Winter Street. Officers identified themselves as Boston Police Officers and advised the suspect of the reason for the stop. The suspect immediately tensed his body, and refused to put his hands behind his back. After multiple verbal commands, officers were able to handcuff the suspect.
Officers began to search the suspect and recovered a firearm from his backpack. The firearm was later determined to be a M&P Shield with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine. Officers also recovered two plastic bags of Crack Cocaine.
Matos was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Distribution of Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
