Boston Police Officers – Sergeant Detective John Burrows and Police Officer Awan Freeman – were both recognized for their life saving efforts and for implementing the ‘Stop the Bleed Program” for the Department.
“Stop the Bleed” is a course where our officers teach the community three quick techniques to help save a life, to try to prevent someone from bleeding out. Time is paramount in emergency situations, learning such things can – and has – helped save lives.
Sergeant Detective Burrows and Officer Freeman’s involvement in the community is a great example of the critical importance of BPD partnering with the Community and positive things our dedicated officers do every day to keep our citizens safe.
The American Red Cross gave the officers the ‘Red Cross Heroes Award’ which is presented to someone who has put forth a heroic or contagious effort amongst their community.
Here is a look at the award ceremony, plus some other shots from a few of their latest ‘Stop the Bleed’ trainings around the City.
