On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, members of the Boston Police Drug Control Units, Brockton Police Drug Control Unit, and DEA, arrested Robert Smythwick, 48, of Randolph, on firearm and drug charges.
Officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation and execution of search warrants in multiple locations in Hyde Park and Brockton. As a result of the search warrants, officers recovered 430 grams of cocaine, 69 grams of crack cocaine, 18 grams of fentanyl, 35 pressed fentanyl pills, 3 percocet pills, and 11 ounces of marijuana. Officers also recovered a Smith & Wesson with sixteen rounds in the magazine, and a SCCY with three rounds of ammunition, two spare magazines, and twenty-five rounds of ammunition. A total of $73,860 in US currency was also recovered during the search warrants.
Smythwick was placed under arrest and charged with: Trafficking of class A, trafficking of class B, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession with intent to distribute class A, possession with intent to distribute class B, and possession with intent to distribute class D. He is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
