Officers Recovered a Firearm After a Person with a Gun Call in the Back Bay

At about 8:16 PM, on Friday, December 22, 2023, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) arrested Paul Thompson, 37, of Boston, on firearm related charges.

Officers responded to the area of 41 Edgerly Road for a report of a person with a gun. Officers were advised by Boston Police Operations that two males were arguing, and a firearm was displayed. A description of the suspect was broadcasted to responding officers.

As officers arrived on scene, they observed a group of three males, and began to conduct a pat frisk of each individual. As officers pat frisked two of the suspects, the third suspect began to run from officers. A foot pursuit ensued, and the suspect was apprehended in the area of 48 Burbank Street.

Officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect, and recovered a firearm from the suspect’s pants pocket. The firearm was later determined to be a Willison Combat CQB with one round in the chamber, one round stuck in the magazine well, and five rounds in the magazine.

Thompson was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
