At about 10:38 AM, on Monday, December 18, 2023, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Sylvester Forde, 23, of South Boston, on firearm related charges.
Officers responded to the area of 64A Blue Hill Avenue for a report of a person with a gun. Officers were advised that a suspect had just robbed a convenience store with a firearm. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect and a direction of flight. Officers observed the suspect in the area of Perrin Street and Waverly Street.
Officers exited their marked cruiser, and approached the suspect. Officers immediately observed what they believed to be a handle of a firearm, protruding from the suspect’s jacket pocket. The suspect was placed into handcuffs and the firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.
Forde was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and armed robbery. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
