At about 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a 16-year-old male and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Mount Pleasant Street and Dudley Street in Roxbury.
The Youth Violence Strike Force includes Boston Police officers working alongside members of the Boston Housing Police and the Massachusetts State Police. Strike Force officers had been conducting directed patrols in the Mount Pleasant Street area after residents, local businesses, and community stakeholders reported a rise in concerns. Many of those concerns focused on a nearby playground, which has been the subject of numerous 911 calls about gang-related activity, drug use, and firearm activity.
While in the area as part of an ongoing firearm investigation, officers observed an individual matching the description of a person believed to be carrying a gun. He was leaving a convenience store at the corner of Mount Pleasant Street and Dudley Street. When officers approached, he walked away at a quick pace. Officers stopped him, conducted a pat frisk, and recovered a Taurus G3c 9mm pistol from his waistband. The firearm was loaded with 10 rounds, including one in the chamber, and was fitted with a large capacity magazine.
The juvenile will be charged with:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
