Investigation Update: Suspect Arrested For Triple Stabbing in Brighton

Investigation Update: About 4:54 PM, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, officers and detectives assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to a radio call for a person swinging a large knife in the area of Leo M. Birmingham Parkway and Waverly Street, Brighton.

Upon arrival, officers were able to stop the suspect in front of 444 Western Avenue. Detectives issued verbal commands for the suspect to drop the knife, which he complied. The suspect was placed into handcuffs and a large machete was recovered from the sidewalk. Officers also recovered a second folding knife with reddish brown stains on it from the suspect’s front right pant pocket.

The suspect, Joshua Flores, 24, of Brighton, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court for the following charges:

  • Carrying a dangerous Weapon
  • Disturbing the Peace

After further investigation, detectives developed probable cause to charge Flores with a recent triple stabbing in Brighton. Flores will be additionally charged out of Brighton District Court for the following offenses:

  • Three counts of armed assault with intent to murder
  • Three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury
  • Two counts of Mayhem

The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 1:30 AM, on Sunday, October 4, 2026, officers assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to a radio call for a report of a person stabbed in the area of Cambridge Street and Harvard Avenue, Brighton. Upon arrival, officers located three adult male victims suffering from stab wounds. Boston EMS responded to the scene and transported the three victims to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
