As part of our weeklong celebration of Faith & Blue, Commissioner Cox, members of the Command Staff, Captain McMullin, and officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) received a blessing from Father Connolly of St. Theresa of Avila Parish in West Roxbury. Prior to their shift, officers prayed with Father Connolly before heading out into the community and answering calls for service.
The nationally recognized Faith & Blue Initiative strengthens police-community bonds by uniting law enforcement, faith-based institutions and the community. The Boston Police Department has been an engaged, supportive and participating partner of this endeavor since its inception in 2020. Faith-based partnerships are a powerful motivator to addressing some of the community’s most challenging issues, including addressing violence, quality of life issues and building trust.
