BPD in the Community: On Sunday, October 4, 2026, Officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) joined the St. Cecilia’s Church community for a special Faith & Blue Blessing of the Animals.
It was a wonderful opportunity for officers, families, and community members to come together in faith and fellowship while celebrating the special bond we share with our four-legged companions. 
Each district or neighborhood station in the City holds at least two events during this week each year to get to know members of different faith communities across Boston. The Faith & Blue Initiative is a national effort that is held over the long holiday weekend to strengthens police-community bonds by uniting law enforcement, faith-based institutions and the community. We have extended it to a full week in Boston. Faith-based partnerships have proven to be powerful in Boston in addressing violence, quality of life issues and building trust
