Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) have arrested Jermaine Blackman, 29, of Roxbury, following an investigation into a shooting that occurred on Friday evening near Pauline Bennett Way and Smith Street, in Roxbury.
At approximately 8:29 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, District B-2 officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation for shots fired in the area of Pauline Bennett Way and Smith Street. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and recovered ballistic evidence.
A subsequent investigation revealed that a male suspect approached an occupied motor vehicle on Smith Street, produced a firearm, and fired shots in the direction of the vehicle before fleeing into an adjacent apartment building. The victim and the vehicle were eventually located; no injuries were reported.
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, Detectives identified an apartment associated with Blackman and obtained a search warrant for the residence. At approximately 4:00 p.m., officers arrested Blackman and executed the search warrant, recovering a firearm from the premises.
The recovered weapon was identified as a non-serialized .357 SIG “ghost gun” featuring a Glock slide and a Polymer80 lower receiver, loaded with a 10-round magazine containing multiple live rounds.
Jermaine Blackman is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:
· Attempted Murder
· Attempted Assault and Battery with a Firearm
· Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm)
· Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License (4th Offense)
· Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling
