Three Suspects Charged and a Firearm Recovered in Roxbury

About 12:38 AM, officers responded to the area of 76 Weaver Way for a group of individuals blocking the roadway and drinking alcohol. When officers arrived on scene, they observed the group congregating near multiple illegally parked vehicles. All of the individuals appeared to be underage that were drinking in public, smoking marijuana, and urinating in public.

Once officers exited their cruiser, a group of five individuals was seen breaking away from the group and walking at a fast pace. Their attention was drawn to the suspect who was smoking marijuana and trying to get ahead of the group. The suspect moved behind two other group members and began to shield the right side of his body.

When officers attempted to conduct a pat frisk, the suspect fled in a full sprint. A foot pursuit ensued and two of the group members attempted to block officers as they ran after the suspect. During the foot chase, the suspect was seen removing a firearm from his waistband and threw it under a parked vehicle.

With the assistance of responding officers, the suspect was apprehended. A large group began to form around the scene and shout obscenities. One juvenile was placed into handcuffs for drinking in public, and during the arrest a second suspect began to push officers. Officers placed the suspect into custody for interfering with a police investigation.

The recovered firearm was determined to be a Polymer 80 with a laser attachment, and four rounds in a magazine that was capable of holding fifteen total rounds.

The following suspects were placed under arrest and are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court:
