At about 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, officers assigned to District 3 (Mattapan) made a stop at Wolcott Street and Columbia Road, which resulted in the arrest of Giovanny Remy, 19, of Brockton, for multiple firearm-related offenses.
Officers were conducting directed patrols in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road. While on Columbia Road approaching Wolcott Street, officers observed a group of males congregating around a vehicle parked in a designated “No Parking” zone. Officers approached the group and were immediately drawn to Giovanny Remy, who was wearing a cross-body bag at the time. After a few moments of conversation, officers observed another male remove the cross-body bag from Remy and place the bag inside the vehicle.
Officers then inquired about the contents of the cross-body bag that had been removed from Remy and placed inside the vehicle. One of the males on scene confirmed that there was a firearm inside the cross-body bag and that he currently had an active License to Carry. Officers were aware that Giovanny Remy, who had been in direct control of the cross-body bag containing the firearm, was under the legal age to possess a firearm and placed him in handcuffs. A subsequent inquiry revealed that Remy did not possess a License to Carry.
District detectives arrived on scene and began processing the firearm. The firearm was determined to be a Shadow Systems MR920 9mm. The firearm was loaded with a total of ten (10) rounds of ammunition and was equipped with a flashlight.
Giovanny Remy is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
