On Monday, August 24, 2026, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Ramon Joseph Miles, 55-years-old, of Dorchester, as part of an ongoing firearm investigation in the area of Temple Place in Boston.
The facts and circumstances of the initial incident and the investigation leading up to the arrest are as follows:
At approximately 8:48 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a found firearm in the area of 136 Harrison Avenue in Boston.
Upon arrival, officers were met by the reporting person who stated he was picking up trash and cleaning the flower planters when he located a discarded firearm. Detectives arrived on scene and secured the firearm which was determined to be a Davis Industries P-380 semi-automatic handgun loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.
As detectives began their investigation, they were able to determine the unknown suspect had discarded the firearm before boarding a Silver Line Bus in the afternoon on August 14. The suspect later returned to the planter where he discarded the firearm, before realizing it was no longer where he had left it. Detectives acquired images of the suspect and dispersed them to officers throughout the area.
On Monday, August 24, 2026, officers assigned to the District A-1 Drug Control Unit observed an individual matching the description of the suspect standing on Temple Place waiting for the Silver Line. Officers approached the suspect and, following a query, learned that he had an active straight warrant issued out of Boston Municipal Court on charges of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct. The suspect was taken into custody.
Ramon Joseph Miles is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, Improper Storage of a Firearm, and Armed Career Criminal Level 3.
