At about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, officers assigned to District 3 (Mattapan) conducted a stop in the area of Middleton Street and Theodore Street, which resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester for multiple firearm-related offenses.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Middleton Street and Norfolk Street, traveling toward Theodore Street. As officers approached Theodore Street, they observed two individuals walking on the sidewalk toward them. Officers were familiar with both juvenile males and had had multiple cordial conversations with them previously.
As officers approached, they observed that both juvenile males began walking at an accelerated pace. Officers observed that one juvenile male began to outpace the other. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old juvenile walked with an awkward gait, with both arms pinned at his sides. Officers also observed that the 17-year-old, whom they knew, was displaying behavior drastically different from their prior interactions.
Officers then exited their cruisers and attempted to speak with the two individuals. At this time, the 17-year-old juvenile began sprinting from officers down Marden Avenue. As officers followed the male, they observed him pull an object from the front of his waistband and throw it into the rear of a nearby residence.
Officers who were also nearby were able to safely stop the 17-year-old juvenile male on Theodore Street. Officers then located a black firearm in the rear of the aforementioned residence.
District Detectives arrived on the scene and began processing the firearm. The firearm was determined to be a black Polymer80 semi-automatic 9mm pistol, with a total of fifteen (15) rounds, including one (1) round loaded in the chamber.
The 17-year-old juvenile male is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on the following charges:
- Delinquent to wit: Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Delinquent to wit: Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Delinquent to wit: Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
- Delinquent to wit: Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
