On Sunday, August 16, 2026, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Leonard Lomax, 34, of Roxbury, on multiple firearm and drug related charges.
At approximately 10:40 PM, officers were conducting an investigation. While on scene, officers observed a vehicle parked near the group. An individual approached the officers and stated that the vehicle did not belong to him but belonged to his friend.
While officers continued speaking with the group, the individual was observed entering the driver’s seat of the vehicle and driving to 100 Arch Street. Officers had multiple prior encounters with the individual and were aware that he did not possess a valid driver’s license.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and exited their cruiser. The driver simultaneously exited his vehicle with a backpack slung over his shoulder. While officers were speaking with the driver, two individuals approached the area. The driver handed the backpack to one of the individuals, who began walking away. Officers quickly stopped the individual and ordered him to return the backpack.
After officers retrieved the backpack, the driver suddenly sprinted down Arch Street. A foot pursuit ensued, and multiple officers converged on the area. As officers attempted to place the suspect in handcuffs, a physical struggle occurred. The suspect was ultimately placed under arrest.
A wooden box was located inside the suspect’s backpack. Inside the box, officers discovered a large quantity of crack cocaine and K2 synthetic marijuana.
During an inventory search of the motor vehicle, officers located a firearm. District Detectives were requested to respond to the scene and process the evidence. The firearm was identified as a Glock 19 with an obliterated serial number. The firearm was loaded with a magazine containing seventeen rounds. Officers also recovered a total of $617 in U.S. currency.
Lomax is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following charges:
– Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license
– Trafficking of cocaine
– Two counts of possession with intent to distribute class C
– Two counts of possession with intent to distribute class B, subsequent offense
– Carrying a firearm without a license
– Possession of a large capacity feeding device
– Carry a loaded firearm without a license
– Receive an untraceable firearm
– Possession of ammunition without an FID card, subsequent offense
– Improper storage of a large capacity firearm
– Firearm violation with two proper violent/drug crimes
