At approximately 12:21 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile male and the recovery of a loaded firearm in the area of 6 Michigan Avenue in Dorchester.
While on patrol due to the increasingly large groups of individuals congregating at the conclusion of the Dominican Festival, officers observed a group of four males who immediately began walking away from officers upon seeing them. Officers lost sight of the individuals and continued their patrol. As officers were walking down Michigan Avenue, they observed a motor vehicle blocking the driveway of 6 Michigan Avenue. Officers approached the vehicle and observed the four individuals from earlier inside of it.
Officers spoke with the operator, who stated he did not possess a valid driver’s license. Officers issued an exit order and removed the occupants one at a time. Upon removing the front passenger, officers located a firearm within his waistband. The front passenger was taken into custody. The remaining individuals were identified and released from the scene.
The firearm was determined to be a 22 caliber Taurus Firearm loaded with sixteen rounds of live ammunition.
Officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male of South Boston. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Delinquent to wit; Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
