At approximately 8:45 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force and the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of Derron Crawford and the recovery of a loaded firearm in the area of 2918 Washington Street in Roxbury.
While on patrol in the area of Humboldt Avenue, officers observed a motor vehicle violate several auto laws while traveling on Seaver Street. Officers activated their emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop in the area of 2918 Washington Street. Officers issued an exit order to both the suspect and the passenger, who both complied. A frisk of the vehicle led to the discovery of a firearm in the rear seat area. The operator was subsequently taken into custody.
The firearm was determined to be a Glock 26 loaded with fifteen rounds of live ammunition.
Officers arrested Derron Crawford, 25-years-old, of Brockton. Crawford is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License Fourth Offense, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Firearm Violation with Three prior Violent/ Drug Crimes, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card Subsequent Offense. Crawford was also issued a Massachusetts uniform citation for violation of the auto laws.
