At 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, officers assigned to the Hyde Park Drug Control Unit arrested Kadir Acosta, 22, of Roslindale, on multiple firearm-related charges and issued a criminal summons to the operator of the vehicle for a dangerous weapon in the area of Beechland Circle.
Officers received information from a witness who observed two males passing a firearm between each other inside a vehicle in the area of 950 American Legion Highway.
Officers assigned to the Hyde Park Drug Control Unit located the vehicle as it turned from Washington Street onto Beechland Circle. After the vehicle parked, officers approached and identified both occupants, who matched the descriptions provided by the witness. Officers’ attention was drawn to the passenger, who was wearing a green fanny pack across his shoulder.
Officers then conducted an exit order and a pat frisk of both occupants. A pat-frisk of the operator yielded negative results for any weapons. Officers then conducted a pat-frisk of the operator’s handbag, where they recovered a pair of black brass knuckles.
While conducting the pat frisk of Kadir Acosta, officers felt a firearm inside the fanny pack. Officers then placed Acosta in handcuffs and safely secured the firearm. Officers conducted an inquiry, which revealed that Kadir Acosta did not possess a License to Carry Firearms.
Detectives arrived on the scene and processed the firearm. The firearm was determined to be a Black SCCY Industries CPX-2 9mm handgun, with a total of seven (7) rounds of ammunition.
Kadir Acosta is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on the following charges:
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
The Operator is expected to be summoned to West Roxbury District Court for the following charge:
- Carrying a Dangerous Weapon
