At 6:13 p.m., officers assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of Beechland Circle, resulting in the arrest of Xavian Alvarado, 19, of Hyde Park.
As Officers approached the scene on Beechland Circle, they were flagged down by three males stating that they had been robbed at gunpoint. The victims stated they had been approached by a group of six to seven black/hispanic males, one of whom was armed with a firearm. The victims described the male with the firearm as a short, light-skinned male wearing black pants and a purple sweatshirt, a black camo-style mask, and a black backpack. The victims described the firearm as a silver firearm with several stickers on the firearm. The victims stated that a cell phone and a large amount of U.S currency had been taken.
Officers then relayed a direction of flight over Boston Police Radio Channels. Officers in the area of Blue Ledge Drive observed a male matching the description. Officers were able to detain the male identified as Xavian Alvarado, 19, of Hyde Park. A pat-frisk of Alvarado resulted in the recovery of a firearm from his front right waistband. Xavian was also in possession of a cell phone and a large amount of U.S currency.
District detectives arrived on scene and processed the firearm. The firearm was determined to be a silver-and-black Smith and Wesson SD40 VE, loaded with fourteen (14) rounds of .40-caliber ammunition, including one (1) round in the chamber and thirteen (13) rounds in the magazine.
Xavian Alvarado is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on the following charges:
- Armed Robbery
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
