At about 12:52 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an on-site arrest of Mia Alexander, 19-years-old, of Braintree, and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 930 Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester.
While on directed patrol in the area of Harambee Park, officers observed a group loitering inside of the park after hours. Within the park, officers observed several mopeds operating without registration plates. Officers were aware that Harambee Park closes at 11:30 PM, with posted signs throughout the park.
As officers approached the group, they observed several moped operators driving recklessly with many of the operators not wearing helmets, creating a significant public safety hazard. As officers approached, many individuals within the group began to flee. While attempting to stop some of the mopeds, officers observed the female suspect running from the group with a handgun in her right hand.
Officers repeatedly issued loud verbal commands for the suspect to stop and drop the firearm, which she ignored. The suspect then tossed the firearm before she was apprehended. The firearm was promptly secured.
The firearm was determined to be a black Tanfoglio Model EA380 loaded with five rounds of .380-caliber ammunition.
Mia Alexander is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
