The Boston Police Department Remembers The Service And Sacrifice Of Officer Harris B. McInnes who was Killed in the Line of Duty 99 Years Ago today

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember Officer Harris B. McInnes who was killed in the line of duty 99 years ago today on July 3, 1927. Officer McInnes was shot and killed while pursuing two suspects after a robbery on Main Street in Charlestown.

Officer McInnes was 36-years-old at the time of his death and a seven and a half year veteran of the Boston Police Department. Officer McInnes was survived by his wife and daughter.

Officer McInnes was laid to rest at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. on Panel 35, West Line 6. His name is also forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.
