At about 10:23 pm, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Morton Village Drive in Mattapan.
While patrolling the area of the Morton Village Apartments, officers’ attention was drawn to a male wearing a full blue sweat suit and blue surgical mask.
Officers initially pulled their cruiser into the back lot of the apartment complex and decided to exit the vehicle and proceed into the center courtyard on foot. Upon exiting their cruiser, officers turned the corner and observed a male individual wearing a full blue sweat suit with a blue surgical mask standing with his right side facing officers while looking down, utilizing his cell phone. Officers immediately noticed that this individual seemed to contemplate walking away from the officers as they approached the opening into the courtyard. At this time, officers walked around the corner and began to approach the individual whom officers recognized to be Lamont Jacobs-Barrows.
While passing officers, Jacobs-Barrows held his phone in his left hand with his left arm appearing to be pinned to his side from the upper bicep area. Additionally, Jacobs-Barrows utilized his free right arm to lift the front of his sweatshirt, exposing his stomach and waist area. As officers observed this, they noticed that his left arm continued to stay pinned to his side as if he were holding an object in his armpit area, while his right arm moved completely freely.
Due to the combined observations made by officers, officers feared that Jacobs-Barrows was armed and dangerous and specifically in possession of a firearm. At this time, officers conducted a pat-frisk for weapons, at which point Jacob-Barrows positioned his left side against the wall. Officers initially started the pat-frisk of Jacobs-Barrows, at which point Jacobs-Barrows attempted to block the officers’ hands as they moved to the area of the left side of his body. While on the left side, officers felt a firearm.
The firearm was determined to be a Glock 19 9×19 with an auto-sear switch and an obliterated serial number with a high-capacity magazine containing twenty-eight rounds of live ammunition.
Jacobs-Barrows is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Receiving an Untraceable Firearm,
- Possession of a Loaded Machine Gun
- Possession of a Machine Gun
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
