At about 6:05 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile male of Roxbury in the area of 2 East Brookline Street in Boston.
Officers were patrolling the Cathedral Housing Developments when they turned into the parking lot area of Monsignor Reynolds Way. In the parking lot, officers observed three males standing in the courtyard. As the officers entered the parking lot, the group of males observed the officers and began walking away from the area.
The 17-year-old juvenile, who was amongst the group, began walking away in a hurried manner with long strides. The group then intentionally walked behind dumpsters to further conceal themselves from officers. Another group of officers walked from behind the group and observed the juvenile separate from the group and walk away at a quick pace. Officers’ attention was drawn to the juvenile, who continued to look back at the officers and quickened his pace again.
The juvenile looked back at officers on four different occasions and then began to record the officers. The juvenile then took a turn towards 42 Harrison Archways and, without warning, broke out into a full sprint towards East Brookline Street and Washington Street. While in pursuit, officers observed the juvenile clutching his waistband. As officers began to close the distance, they observed a hooded sweatshirt and firearm fall from the juvenile’s person. Officers were also able to hear the firearm strike the ground as it fell.
Officers were able to quickly and safely place the 17-year-old juvenile into custody. Officers and detectives were able to secure the firearm, which was determined to be a 9mm Ghost Gun with a purple slide, black receiver, and purple magazine. The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in the large-capacity magazine.
While conducting a search of the suspect, officers located a black fanny pack within the backpack that contained narcotics, a knife containing white powdery residue on the blade, drug paraphernalia, and one live 9mm ammunition.
Officers recovered one hundred and ninety-nine (199) fentanyl pills weighing approximately thirty grams, 1 plastic bag containing approximately five grams of crack cocaine weighing five grams, and one additional gram of loose crack cocaine.
The 17-year-old juvenile suspect is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of:
