Chinatown Drug Trafficking Investigation Leads to Arrest, Narcotics Seizure

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, members of the District C-6 (South Boston) and A-1 (Downtown) Drug Control Units, along with DEA FIT Team members, concluded a narcotics investigation targeting a drug distribution network operating in the Chinatown and Theatre District neighborhoods.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., officers conducting surveillance in the area of 285 Tremont Street observed a subject exit the rear of the building and walk to Oak Street West. Officers, displaying their badges, approached the subject and identified themselves as Boston Police officers. Officers advised the subject that they were in possession of search warrants for both his person and his residence at 285 Tremont Street. Officers recovered a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the subject’s person.

Officers subsequently executed the search warrant at the apartment and recovered the following items:

  • Approximately 18 grams of fentanyl
  • Approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine
  • 77 Suboxone film strips
  • An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency

Li Wei Mei, 33, of Boston, was transported to Nashua Street Jail for booking. He was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on the following charges:

  • Trafficking a Class A Substance (Fentanyl)
  • Trafficking a Class B Substance (Crack Cocaine)
