At about 8:06 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, members of the Auto Theft Unit, made an on-site arrest of Bryan Manuel Arias Martinez, 20-years-old, and impounded an off-highway vehicle in the area of Jewish War Veterans Drive in Jamaica Plain.
While on patrol, officers observed the operator of a blue dirt bike traveling in the area of the aforementioned location without wearing a helmet. Officers further observed the dirt bike leaning against a rock on the William Devine Golf Course. Officers observed additional individuals driving across the golf course, dismounting their dirt bikes, and began to refuel them.
Officers approached the group and immobilized one of the dirt bikes as it was subject to impounding. At this time, one of the individuals immediately descended upon officers in an attempt to gain control of the immobilized dirt bike. A brief struggle ensued and eventually additional responding officers were able to take the suspect into custody.
As officers helped the handcuffed suspect to his feet, the suspect suddenly pulled away from officers and took off running at a full sprint. Following a foot pursuit, the suspect was secured for a second time.
Officers towed two dirt bikes from the scene.
Officers arrested Bryan Manuel Arias Martinez, 20-years-old, of Dorchester. Arias Martinez is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. Arias Martinez was also issued a Massachusetts Uniform citation for violations of the auto laws.
