Joint Investigation Leads to Arrests, Recovery of Stolen ATVs and Dirt Bikes in Dorchester and Dedham

In partnership with Milton Police, members of the Auto Theft Unit participated in an investigation into the theft of several off-highway vehicles which were stolen through fraudulent Facebook marketplace sales. As a result of the investigation, two males were taken into custody by Milton Police on charges of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Forgery of a Check and Uttering a False Check.

At about 9:10 AM on May 13, 2026, following an investigation into the theft of these vehicles, officers retained a search warrant for residences in Dorchester and Dedham. The search warrant for the residence on Woodgate Street in Dorchester led to the recovery of three stolen off-highway vehicles. The search warrant for the residence on Sprague Street in Dedham led to the recovery of an additional dirt bike as well as a firearm which was improperly stored.

Officers were able to determine that the two arrested suspects were conducting illegal purchases of off-highway vehicles via Facebook Marketplace. The scam involved the suspects writing fraudulent checks which were unable to be cashed by the victims after the suspects had already taken possession of the vehicles.
