Arrest Made in Dorchester Shooting Following Extensive Investigation

On Friday, May 22, 2026, officers arrested a Boston man in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 13, 2026, near 25 Dacia Street in Dorchester.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 25 Dacia Street following a radio call for a person shot. ShotSpotter technology activated for multiple rounds fired across two nearby locations. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and observed ballistic damage to multiple residences on Dacia Street, as well as a parked vehicle that sustained damage. Numerous shell casings and additional evidence of a person being shot were also located in the area.

Officers were subsequently notified of a gunshot wound victim who had been brought to a local hospital, where the individual was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the shooting.

In the days following the incident, detectives from District B-2 conducted an extensive investigation that included the review of surveillance footage, the execution of search warrants on a suspect vehicle and a Huntington Avenue residence, and the collection and processing of physical evidence. That investigation identified Chivaugn Nettles, 21, of Boston, as a suspect in the shooting.

Officers assigned to the Boston Police Fugitive Unit arrested Nettles at his Huntington Avenue residence without incident. He was transported to District B-2 for booking.

Nettles is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:

  • Assault and battery by discharge of a firearm
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon (two counts)
