Roxbury Shooting Investigation Leads to Two Arrests

On the evening of April 15, 2026, a ShotSpotter activation brought District B-2 (Roxbury) officers to the area of Abbotsford Street in Roxbury, where investigators located multiple spent shell casings and observed ballistic damage to two parked vehicles. No victims were reported at the scene. Detectives from District B-2 responded to process the crime scene, and a vehicle parked in the area was towed for further examination.

In the days that followed, B-2 Detectives conducted an extensive investigation that included a detailed review of footage from city-operated street cameras, private security cameras, and additional cameras at a residential building in the area. That review allowed investigators to identify several individuals believed to have been involved in the incident.

Arrest warrants were obtained for several individuals. On May 15, 2026, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force and Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit arrested Jahsan Mierez, 18, of Dorchester, without incident. During a subsequent search of that residence, officers recovered a Glock handgun, a revolver, and what appeared to be an assault-style rifle, along with several rounds of ammunition. Additional firearm charges are expected to be filed in connection with that recovery. On May 20, 2026, officers arrested a 16-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester in the area of New Chardon Street in Boston.

Also on May 20, 2026, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force, the Fugitive Unit, and the BPD SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a Dorchester residence connected to one of the outstanding suspects. Officers made a peaceful entry and recovered clothing consistent with what that individual was observed wearing on the night of the shooting.
