Dorchester Man Arrested on Firearm Charges Following Roxbury Foot Pursuit 

Members of the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force, working alongside Massachusetts State Police and Transit Police, arrested a Dorchester man Tuesday evening after officers observed him attempting to conceal a firearm near 70 Wayland Street in Roxbury.

At approximately 6:42 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, officers were conducting proactive patrols in the area in response to ongoing community concerns. As officers approached an individual believed to be unlawfully armed, the individual fled on foot, jumping a fence into the rear yard of a neighboring property. Officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect following a brief foot pursuit. 

During the arrest, officers recovered a black Glock 19 (9mm) pistol loaded with 28 rounds in an extended high-capacity magazine and one round in the chamber.

Tamerat Edelstein-Rosenberg, 19, of Dorchester, was transported to the Nashua Street Jail and booked without incident. 

Edelstein-Rosenberg faces the following charges:

  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
