A-1 Detectives Crack Two-Scene North End Burglary Spree, Suspect in Custody

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, officers and detectives assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested a man in connection with two early-morning burglaries in the North End following a multi-day investigation by A-1 Detectives.

At approximately 4:40 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person inside a residential building on Prince Street. A resident on the upper floor reported being alerted by her dog and a Ring camera notification showing a male moving through the hallway carrying a large bag. Officers reviewed the footage and noted the suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap, dark pants, and a backpack. Several pairs of sneakers and a building spare key were reported stolen. There were no signs of forced entry. The footage was preserved and forwarded to A-1 Detectives.

Approximately 45 minutes later, at around 5:25 a.m., the same suspect forced entry into La Summa restaurant at 30 Fleet Street by manipulating the rear door locking mechanism. Upon arriving for work later that morning, employees discovered the cash register drawer had been moved, a safe had been opened, and personal items were missing from a coat area. Stolen from the restaurant were an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, three blank company checks, two prepaid gift certificates, a backpack, and other personal items belonging to staff. A-1 Detectives responded and processed the scene.

Through a review of surveillance footage from both locations and coordination with partner agencies, A-1 Detectives identified 37-year-old David Loughran as the suspect responsible for both incidents.

Arrest warrants were obtained from Boston Municipal Court on April 25, 2026. Officers on directed patrol in the area of Fulton Street observed Loughran in the vestibule of 185 Fulton Street at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, and placed him under arrest. A search of his backpack yielded multiple controlled substances, an unsheathed kitchen knife, and a digital scale. Loughran was transported to Nashua Street Jail for booking.

David Loughran is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following charges:

  • Unarmed Burglary
  • Larceny from a Building (x2)
  • Breaking and Entering a Building Nighttime for Felony
  • Trespassing
  • Carrying a Dangerous Weapon
