Loaded Stolen Firearm Recovered During Dorchester Traffic Stop

Officers assigned to District B-2 arrested 31-year-old Taquari Milton, of Weymouth, MA, early Friday morning after recovering a loaded stolen firearm concealed beneath the rear seat of a vehicle during a traffic stop on Bowdoin Street.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., on Friday, April 17, 2026, officers on patrol in the area of Dacia Street and Ingleside Street were responding to a 911 call reporting a possible gunshot. While canvassing the area, officers observed a vehicle with heavily tinted windows traveling on Quincy Street toward Columbia Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop at 252 Bowdoin Street.

Upon approaching the vehicle, both officers simultaneously observed the front passenger making furtive movements consistent with the concealment of a weapon. Additional units were requested to assist.

Both occupants were given a lawful order to exit the vehicle. A pat frisk of each individual yielded negative results. Officers then conducted a further investigation of the vehicle’s interior. During that investigation, officers noticed that the rear passenger seat was loose in a manner suggesting it had been previously lifted from its factory retention clips. Upon slightly lifting the seat, officers discovered a loaded firearm concealed beneath it. Subsequent queries confirmed the firearm, a Smith and Wesson M&P 9 Shield Plus, was reported stolen out of Revere. The weapon was loaded with one round in the chamber and seven additional rounds in the magazine.

District B-2 Detectives responded to the scene and processed the firearm.

Milton was charged with the following offenses:

  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License (Loaded)
  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
  • Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,200

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
