The BPD Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Officer Thomas A. Davis, Killed in the Line of Duty 87 Years Ago

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Officer Thomas A. Davis who was killed in the line of duty 87 years ago today. Officer Davis died as a result of injuries he sustained while making an arrest on Thursday April 13, 1939.

Officer Davis was 49 years of age at the time of his death and had served with the department for 20 years. He was survived by his wife and seven children.

Officer Davis was laid to rest at the New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. and located at 50-W: 8. His name is forever engraved at the Boston Police Memorial at Boston Police Headquarters and the Law Enforcement Memorial at the Massachusetts State House in Downtown Boston.
