About 7:49 PM, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) were responding to a radio call when they encountered an active shots fired incident at 218 Blue Hill Avenue. The officers observed a male individual running on Dewey Street and began to pursue the suspect on foot.
Police were able to stop the suspect on Danube Street and conducted a pat frisk. A firearm was recovered from the suspect’s waistband and officers observed it to be at lock back. The firearm was determined to be a Taurus Millennium PT145 Pro with one round in the magazine. The serial number for the firearm was also defaced.
While officers were on scene, a 911 call was received for a person shot at 6 Dewey Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. During a canvass of the scene, ballistic evidence was recovered at 218 Blue Hill Avenue.
Jerod Hobbs, 49, of Dorchester, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:
- Unlawful possession of a firearm, second offense
- Carrying a loaded firearm
- Possession of ammunition without an FID card
- Unlawful possession of ammunition
- Firearm serial number defaced
- Discharge a firearm within 500 feet of a building
- Assault and battery with a firearm
The suspect was also wanted on a warrant out of Boston Municipal Court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
