About 6:40 PM, on Friday, April 3, 2026, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) were advised of two shoplifters inside the Alo store inside the Prudential Mall. Two suspects were seen concealing multiple items into a bag and exited the store. The suspects were able leave the area as the responding officers were assisting with another shoplifting incident.
Shortly after, officers were advised again that the same two suspects were now inside stealing items at the Alo store located at 151 Newbury Street. The male suspect was seen exiting the store, while the female suspect remained inside.
Officers were able to stop the male suspect at 279 Dartmouth Street and advised him that they were conducting a shoplifting investigation. Police placed the suspect into handcuffs, and recovered stolen merchandise.
A key fob was recovered from the suspect, and the vehicle was located on Dartmouth Street. After further investigation, officers were able to recover stolen merchandise from inside the vehicle.
The female suspect was stopped as she was exiting the store, and also placed into handcuffs. She supplied officers with multiple names and refused to reveal her true identity. Officers were able to determine the suspects identity during the booking process.
A total of $1,726 of stolen merchandise was recovered and promptly returned.
Both suspects were placed under arrest and are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following charges:
