Dorchester Arrest Leads to Recovery of Fully Automatic-Capable Firearm

About 10:27 PM, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force were monitoring a group in the area of 12 Harlow Street. The group was seen operating multiple scooters and a dirt bike erratically on the roadway. Multiple vehicles were also observed stopped and parking in the middle of the street, preventing free flow of traffic.

Multiple officers were requested to respond to Harlow Street to assist with dispersing the group. As officers converged on the group, a male was seen jumping over a guardrail and enter Hannon Park. The male placed an object into front pocket of his hoodie, and began sprinting from the area.

A foot pursuit ensued, and the male continued to clutch his waist as he ran. Officers were able to stop the suspect, and a firearm was recovered. The firearm was determined to be a Glock 26 with a switch affixed to the rear slide making it capable of being fully automatic. One round was located in the chamber and twelve rounds were inserted in the magazine.

Devon Hamilton, 26, of Dorchester, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:
