Boston Police Conduct Operation Safe Scooter in the South End, Fenway, and Back Bay

On Monday, March 9, 2026, and Tuesday, March 10, 2026, officers from District D-4 (South End) and the Auto Theft Unit conducted a targeted enforcement operation focused on scooters and mopeds. The initiative was organized in response to ongoing public safety concerns regarding the use of these vehicles in the area of Boylston Street, Kilmarnock Street, Huntington Avenue and Gainsborough Street.

As a result of Operation Safe Scooter, officers towed twelve scooters/mopeds for violations of motor vehicle laws, and issued one summons for operating after suspension. Officers have also conducted multiple educational campaigns over the past several weeks, informing operators about the proper avenues for legally operating within the city.

The Boston Police Department remains committed to improving traffic safety and will continue to conduct enforcement operations across the city.
