Roxbury Officers Recovered a Firearm After a Traffic Stop

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Luis Sanchez, 35, of Dorchester, on multiple firearm related charges.

About 6:35 PM, officers were patrolling the area of Judson Street towards Julian Street when they observed a motor vehicle matching the description from a prior shooting incident. Officers conducted an inquiry of the vehicle and determined that the registered owner did not have an active driver’s license nor did the vehicle have an inspection sticker.

Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop at the intersection of Judson Street and Dean Street. Officers made contact with the operator, and determined that he did not have an active driver’s license.

The suspect was ordered to exit the vehicle and he was placed into handcuffs. Officers conducted a motor vehicle inventory search and recovered a firearm. District Detectives responded to the scene and processed the evidence.

Sanchez was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following offenses:

–          Carrying a Firearm without a License

–          Possession of Ammunition without an FID card

–          Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle

–          No Inspection Sticker
