Officers Recover Loaded Revolver Following Person With a Gun Call in Roxbury

Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury), with assistance from the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force, arrested 19-year-old Jamauri Chambers of Dorchester following a firearm investigation in Roxbury.

At about 9:14 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, officers responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 57 Charlame Street. While responding, officers traveling on Charlame Street from Laurel Street toward North Charlame Court observed an individual matching the description provided by the caller. The individual, later identified as Jamauri Chambers, was seen walking from North Charlame Court before turning onto Charlame Street.

Officers exited their cruiser and stopped Chambers. A pat frisk was conducted which did not immediately reveal a weapon. During the interaction, officers observed that Chambers was sweating heavily despite extremely cold weather conditions.

Based on the nature of the call and information provided by the 911 caller, officers continued their investigation in the area where Chambers was first observed. While searching the surrounding area, officers noticed a side gate leading to the rear yard of 26 North Charlame Court partially open, with a single set of footprints leading toward the rear fence.

Following the footprints, officers observed a small rectangular impression in the snow near the fence line. Officers also noted there were no footprints or disturbances on the opposite side of the fence, which raised suspicion that an item may have been discarded in that location.

While canvassing the rear yards, officers located a mop handle and used it to carefully move the snow covering the impression. As the snow was cleared, officers observed a black object beneath the surface. Officers then accessed the opposite side of the fence and removed additional snow, revealing a black revolver-style firearm with a wood grip secured inside a black nylon holster.

After recovering the firearm, officers placed Chambers under arrest. District B-2 Detectives responded and processed the firearm, which was later identified as a Charco Inc. Bulldog Pug .44 caliber revolver.

Jamauri Chambers is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:

  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
  • Trespassing
