Dorchester Officers Recovered a Large Capacity Firearm from a 17-year-old

On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested a 17-year-old Juvenile Male, for various firearm related offenses.

At approximately 9:09 PM, officers were on patrol near the intersection of Dakota Street and Washington Street when they observed three individuals walking in the area. As officers approached, the individuals became hypervigilant of the marked police cruiser, and officers recognized one of them from a prior arrest.

The individuals then entered a nearby convenience store, and officers followed them inside. Officers believed one individual to be a missing juvenile. As officers approached the group, one individual repeatedly looked toward his waistband.

Fearing the individual may be armed, officers conducted a pat frisk. During the frisk, officers felt what they believed to be a firearm, at which point a struggle ensued as the suspect resisted officers’ attempts to place him in handcuffs. Additional units responded to the scene, and all three individuals were detained.

A firearm was recovered from one suspect’s waistband and was determined to be a Taurus G2C loaded with twelve rounds in the magazine. After further investigation, the other two individuals were promptly released.

The 17-year-old Juvenile Male was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:

–          Delinquent to wit; Firearm Carry without a License

–          Delinquent to wit; Firearm Possession, Large Capacity

–          Delinquent to wit; Possession of Ammunition without an FID card
