South End Officers Arrested Serial Shoplifting Suspect

On Saturday, December 27, 2025, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) arrested Darrin O’Neil, 60, of Lowell, on Shoplifting charges.

About 11:39 AM, officers responded to the area of 760 Boylston Street (Dick’s House of Sport) for a report of a Larceny in Progress. The suspect was seen inside the store concealing merchandise.

While approaching the scene, the suspect was observed exiting the store. Officers were able to quickly stop the suspect, and could see clothing with tags affixed to them inside of a bag. During a search incident to arrest, approximately $408 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.

O’Neil was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following charges:

–          Larceny under $1,200

–          Common and Notorious Thief

After further investigation, officers determined that the suspect also had seven active warrants for his arrest. The charges from the warrants included:

–          Four Counts of Larceny from a Building

–          Two Counts of Larceny of a Credit Card

–          Three Counts of Receiving Stolen Property under $1,200

–          Shoplifting by Asportation

–          Credit Card Fraud under $1,200

–          Shoplifting by Concealing Merchandise
