Downtown Officers Arrest Breaking and Entering Suspect

On Friday, December 26, 2025, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Michael Waterman, 40, of Boston, for an early morning breaking and entering.

About 5:08 AM, officers responded to the area of 50 Summer Street for a radio call of a breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, the front glass door to the convenience store was shattered, and the cash register was taken.

As officers were speaking with the victim, responding officers located an individual matching the description across the street. When officers attempted to place the suspect into handcuffs, he immediately began to resist and threatened to kill officers. After multiple de-escalation tactics, the suspect was handcuffed and the stolen merchandise was recovered.

Waterman is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following charges:

–          Larceny from a Building

–          Armed Robbery

–          Breaking and Entering into a Building, Nighttime for a Felony

–          Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

–          Assault and Battery on a Police Officer

–          Resist Arrest

–          Threat to Commit a Crime
