BPD in the Community: Boston Police Department Collaborates with Public Safety Partners for “Stop the Bleed” and “Hands-Only” CPR Training Class

Members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force, along with our partners at the Massachusetts State Police and the Boston Housing Police, took part in a “Stop the Bleed” and “Hands-Only CPR” training program, this time at the Heath Street Housing Development.

Our Boston Police Detectives in B-3 in Mattapan began hosting these “Stop the Bleed” training sessions for members of the Community over the past few years.

The ongoing program is focused on equipping residents with practical, life-saving skills they can use in emergency situations. “Stop the Bleed” training taught participants how to recognize and control severe bleeding using techniques like wound packing and tourniquet application, while “Hands-Only CPR” emphasized high-quality chest compressions and the importance of immediate action until first responders arrive.

The session saw a great turnout and meaningful engagement from the community. Initiatives like this show how working together builds trust and helps build a safer City of Boston for everyone!
