About 11:20 AM, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to the area of 91 Southern Avenue, Dorchester, for a shot spotter activation.
Upon arrival, officers located ballistic evidence and began to set up a crime scene. Officers also observed ballistic damage to a motor vehicle. While on scene, officers were provided with a description of two suspects that fled the area on a scooter from Southern Avenue towards Talbot Avenue. District Detectives were requested to respond to the scene and process the evidence.
Shortly after the shooting incident, a detail officer in the area of Washington Street observed a scooter traveling at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the road on Moultrie Street.
Officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) observed the suspects operating the scooter on Waldeck Street. Both the operator and passenger of the scooter were observed to not be wearing helmets and were operating recklessly. The scooter was last seen driving from Greenbrier Street onto Alpha Road.
Officers updated Boston Police Operations of the observations and turned onto Waldeck Street. As they were turning, they had to swerve to avoid an accident with the scooter. The operator lost control of the scooter and collided with the side of the police cruiser.
The suspects immediately got up and fled the scene. One of the officers observed a suspect toss a firearm in the area of 52 Waldeck Street. A foot pursuit ensued, but the suspects were able to avoid arrest.
District Detectives responded to the scene and were able to process the firearm, and towed the scooter. The firearm was determined to be a 9mm Semi-Automatic handgun with two rounds in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine. The firearm also has no serial number on it.
While monitoring the radio, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force observed discarded clothing on Larchmont Street. A suspect was seen on Dakota Street where he was quickly taken into custody.
The suspect, a 17-year-old Juvenile Male, was placed under arrest is expected to be Boston Juvenile Court for the following charges:
– Delinquent to wit; Possession of Ammunition without an FID card
– Delinquent to wit; Possession of a Firearm without an FID card
– Delinquent to wit; Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
– Delinquent to wit; Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
– Delinquent to wit; Defacement of Firearm Serial Number
– Delinquent to wit; Trespass
– Delinquent to wit; Resist Arrest
– Delinquent to wit; Leaving the Scene of Property Damage
– Delinquent to wit; Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Delinquent to wit; Helmet Violation
Officers continued to search the area of the second suspect, who fled to no avail. No injuries were reported from the original shooting incident.
