At approximately 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, officers from District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to a report of a breaking and entering in the area of 19 Chester Street. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect; however, an initial search of the area yielded negative results.
According to the victim, she was closing her bedroom window when it suddenly reopened and a hand reached inside. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived. District Detectives were called to process the scene, where they observed that the window screen had been torn and handprints were visible on the glass.
As officers showed detectives the point of entry, a man matching the suspect’s description returned to the scene. When officers approached, the suspect quickly walked away before breaking into a sprint. A brief foot pursuit ensued, but the suspect initially eluded capture.
A description of the man was broadcast to responding units, and he was soon located in the area of 1094 Commonwealth Avenue. The suspect, identified as Renato De Oliveira, 39, of Brighton, was placed under arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court on charges of:
- Breaking and Entering (Nighttime)
- Trespassing
