BPD Drug Control Unit Arrests One Following Fentanyl Trafficking Investigation in the South End

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, members of the District D-4 (South End/Back Bay) Drug Control Unit, the D-4 Community Interaction Team, and the Boston Police N.E.S.T. Team conducted a coordinated drug investigation in the area of 616 Massachusetts Avenue.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., officers observed a male individual standing outside the Dunkin’ Donuts located at 616 Massachusetts Avenue. Officers noted behavior consistent with a street-level drug transaction. A short time later, the male engaged in a brief interaction with the operator of an Acura before returning toward the business as the vehicle drove away.

Believing that a drug transaction had just occurred, officers approached the male to conduct an inquiry. After a brief investigation, officers discovered that he was concealing narcotics he received from the operator of the Acura and seized approximately 19 grams of suspected fentanyl. The individual was advised that he would be summonsed to court for trafficking fentanyl.

Officers subsequently located and stopped the involved Acura near Tremont and Ruggles Streets. During the stop, officers recovered an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, torn plastic baggies, and two cell phones, items consistent with narcotics distribution. The operator, identified as 22-year-old Kevin Reyes-Martinez of Chestnut Hill, MA, was placed under arrest and charged with trafficking fentanyl (approximately 19 grams) and conspiracy to violate the drug laws. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
