On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 1:56 AM, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested James Kearse, 35, of Boston, on multiple firearm-related charges.
Police responded to a radio call reporting a group of five individuals dressed in all black and wearing ski masks, seen pacing near Kingston Street and Bedford Street. Upon arrival, one individual was observed opening a chain-link fence and entering the rear door of 37 Bedford Street, closing it behind him. Several “No Trespassing” signs were clearly posted on the property.
Verbal commands were given for the suspect to exit the building, which he initially refused. He eventually complied and was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the surrounding area, a discarded firearm was located behind a locked gate. The weapon was identified as a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield, loaded with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.
Kearse was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following offenses:
– Carrying a Firearm without a License, 3rd Offense
– Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Subsequent Offense
– Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
– Improper Storage of a Firearm
– Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony
– Trespass with a Firearm
– Firearm Violation with two prior Violent/Drug Crimes
– Breaking and Entering a Building, Nighttime, for Felony
– Trespass
– Resist Arrest
– Disturbing the Peace
– Carry a Dangerous Weapon
