Two Juveniles Arrested, Firearms Recovered Following Incident in Franklin Field

At approximately 6:59 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) arrested two juvenile males, ages 14 and 16, in connection with multiple firearm-related offenses following a subject stop in the Franklin Field Housing Development.

While on directed patrol in the area due to recent gun violence, officers observed a group of six to eight individuals gathered abnormally in the courtyard along Westview Way. Several members of the group wore multiple layers of clothing and face coverings, drawing officers’ attention.

As officers approached on foot, one 14-year-old male (Suspect 1) separated from the group and displayed nervous behavior, including avoiding eye contact, wide-eyed stares, and fidgeting. Officers, fearing he might be armed, attempted a pat frisk. During the frisk, they recovered a Glock 44 .22LR handgun loaded with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine. Suspect 1 was immediately taken into custody.

Upon learning that a firearm had been recovered, a 16-year-old male (Suspect 2) fled the scene. Officers pursued him through the courtyard and into a nearby building, where he was located attempting to hide. While retracing his flight path, officers discovered a discarded Taurus G2C 9mm handgun hidden under a bush on Westview Street. The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.

Both juveniles were transported to District B-3 and will face charges in Dorchester District Court:

  • Suspect 1 (14 years old):
    • Delinquent to wit; Carrying a Firearm Without a License (Loaded)
    • Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
