Detail Officer assists Roxbury Units with Firearm Arrest

On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Rodi Santana Sota, 29, of Boston, on firearm and breaking and entering charges.

About 1:57 PM, an officer working a detail was notified for an individual sleeping in an alley near 528 Blue Hill Avenue. With the assistance of responding units, officers requested the individual to gather his belongings and leave the area.

After further investigation, officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect, but he continued to move his hands and refused to comply with orders. The suspect was seen to be reaching for an unknown item, and then ran from officers.

A foot chase ensued, but the suspect was able to make good on his escape. Officers located a discarded bag from the suspect’s flight path, and recovered a firearm from inside. Officers broadcasted the description of the suspect, and direction of flight.

The suspect was seen running towards 580 Blue Hill Avenue, and officers were alerted that the suspect made entrance into the building. Officers created a perimeter and located the suspect as he was attempting to walk out the front door.

Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force assisted with attempting to locate the suspect, and also observed a discarded fanny back in the backyard. Officers searched the bag and recovered a firearm from inside. The firearm was determined to be a Smith & Wesson 1911 with a defaced serial number and five rounds in the magazine.

Santana-Soto was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:

–          Carrying a Firearm without a License

–          Breaking and Entering for a Misdemeanor
