On Monday, August 18, 2025, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested 21-year-old Roger Estrada of Hyde Park on firearm-related charges following a pursuit in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Boston.
At approximately 2:48 AM, officers attempted to stop a red dirt bike that matched the description of a suspect vehicle fleeing the scene of a ShotSpotter activation at 116 Talbot Avenue. The driver and passenger fell off the bike near Quincy Street and Clarkson Street, causing both the operator and passenger to flee in separate directions.
Officers quickly located the passenger, later identified as Roger Estrada, hiding under a vehicle on Barry Park. Officers learned that Estrada was suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the response, Dorchester detectives recovered a gray backpack in the roadway near Adams Street and Robinson Street. Inside, they found a black Glock handgun with an extended magazine, a firearm “switch” allowing automatic fire, and an obliterated serial number. The gun was loaded with one round in the chamber and 29 rounds in the magazine, which has a capacity of 40. Also inside the backpack were a credit card bearing Estrada’s name, and a pill bottle containing three small white pills marked “K 18,” believed to be Oxycodone.
Estrada was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun
- Unlawful Possession of a Large-Capacity Feeding Device
- Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Possession of a Class B Substance
