Suspect Arrested After a Shot Spotter Activation in Roxbury

About 9:20 PM, on Monday, July 21, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of Washington Park at 150 Martin Luther King Boulevard for a report of shots fired. Boston Police Operations advised officers of multiple shot spotter activations.

Upon arrival, officers located ballistic evidence in the area of Mayfair Street. Detectives began to monitor video surveillance in the area, and were able to broadcast a description of a suspect seen discharging a firearm.

The suspect was quickly stopped by officers on scene and placed into handcuffs. Detectives were able to track the suspect on camera placing a firearm inside of a backpack, which was located where he was apprehended. A search of the bag revealed a firearm from inside which was determined to be a Glock 42 with no rounds in the chamber or magazine. Detectives also located mushrooms from inside the backpack.

Lamar Wright, 44, of Mattapan, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
  • Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Possession of a Firearm without FID Card
  • Unlawful Possession of Class C
